About our bookstore

Librería Linardi y Risso occupies an historical building called "Casa del Vicario" (Vicar's House) in the "Old City" of Montevideo a few steps away from the Plaza Matriz, the Cathedral and the Cabildo (Town Hall).
This building and its lot were formerly owned by important Uruguayan personalities, including: Dr. Nicolás Barrales, first Vicar of the city in 1738; Friar José Benito Lamas, priest devoted to our national hero General José Artigas and also Vicar in 1838.
